Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how AnimeChato (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the AnimeChato website, mobile apps, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy and to our Terms of Service.

• Account information. When you sign up we collect the information your sign-in method provides — for example your email address, phone number, or Google account name and avatar. Guest accounts are assigned an anonymous identifier.
• Chats, calls, and the Memory Book. We store your conversations with characters, including text chats and transcripts of video calls, along with the “Memory Book” summaries the Service builds from them so characters can remember you across sessions.
• Content you create. Characters you make (names, personalities, genres, prompts) and images generated at your direction.
• Purchase information. Records of your Essence purchases and balances. Payments are processed by Stripe, Apple, or Google — we never see or store your full card number.
• Device and usage information. Push-notification tokens (if you opt in), basic device and browser information, IP address, and usage analytics collected via Firebase.

• To provide the Service: running chats and calls, generating character art, maintaining your collection, Essence, and Memory Book.
• To generate AI responses: your messages and relevant Memory Book context are sent to our AI model providers (for example, Google’s Vertex AI) to produce character replies, images, and calls.
• To send push notifications you have opted into (like character messages and daily bonuses) — you can turn these off at any time in settings or your device.
• To process purchases, prevent fraud and abuse, moderate content, and enforce our Terms.
• To understand usage and improve the Service.

A note on what you share in chats: conversations are processed by AI systems and stored to power memory features. Please don’t share sensitive personal information (like government IDs, financial details, or health information) in conversations with characters.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers that run the Service for us — cloud hosting and databases (Google Firebase / Google Cloud), AI model providers (Google Vertex AI), payment processors (Stripe, Apple, Google), and real-time video infrastructure — each bound to use your data only to provide their service to us.
• Other users, if you share a character: its name, art, and personality become visible to others (your chats do not).
• Legal recipients, when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of AnimeChato and its users.
• A successor, as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — we’ll notify you of any change in ownership of your data.

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete individual Memory Book entries in the app. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at kareemdasilva@gmail.com — we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons.

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell or “share” personal information as defined by the CCPA, and we honor these rights without discriminating against you for exercising them. The Service is for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (and never from children under 13). If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will delete the account and its data.

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, authenticated APIs, and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We are based in the United States and process data on servers located there and in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers from the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, in-app or by email) before they take effect. The effective date above always reflects the current version.
